I began fencing almost 5 years ago under the instruction of Coach Jim Carpenter at the Grapevine Texas
Fencing Center, which then merged with Gold Blade Fencing Center. This merger was tremendously helpful, as I was able to share the joy of fencing with a one of a kind community. My GBFC teammates have remained a beloved presence in my life as I venture into an exciting Collegiate Fencing Career at Columbia University in New York, and without Coach Mohamed's quiet kindness and patient instruction, I would not have the tremendous opportunities which I have been granted.

My experiences at GBFC, my fencing comrades, and especially the coaching under Jim Carpenter and Mohamed ElSakhawy has instilled a passion to become not just a better fencer, but a better human being. I am proud to say that I was, am, and always will be a member of Gold Blade Fencing.
