Gold Blade Fencing offers a wide variety of classes, camps, special programs, and private lessons for fencers of all ages and abilities.

You will find detailed information for each class below, however, if you have any questions, click at the top on Contact Us and we'll be glad to answer your questions. 

 

 
 

 

Membership

Members enjoy unlimited access to the fencing club during all club hours.  This includes weapons repair services and club fencing equipment as well as use of 8 electrically scored, Olympic style fencing strips.
Members are eligible to participate in club fitness, footwork, technique, skills and strategy training, mock tournaments and private coaching lessons.

  • Prior experience: Beginner Class or equivalent (see Beginner Class below)
  • Age: 6 to 95 (waiverable with coaches evaluation)
  • Cost: Yearly Tuition - paid Quarterly on AUG 1, NOV 1, FEB 1 and MAY 1.
    • Individual - $1020 per year or $255 per quarter or
    • Two Fencers - $345 per quarter ($1380 yearly); Three Fencers - $435 per quarter ($1740 yearly)
    • A 10% Prepayment Discount is given if you prepay 2 or more Quarters.
    • One time Admin Fee of $25 per new Membership Account
  • Method of Payment - Credit Card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover,) Check or Cash
  • Membership Contract - New and current members are asked to sign our updated 2009 membership contract.

Beginner Class:

Designed for fencers new to the sport or for returning fencers who need a quick brush up on the fundamentals.
Learn if this sport is for you.
Have fun, improve fitness, compete or just enjoy recreational fencing.
Learn basic footwork and blade-work using the fencing Foil.
Prerequisite for Membership and upon completion you can become a club member.
Arrive 20 minutes early for the initial class to complete paperwork. Call or email for a reservation.

  • Lessons - 6 consecutive weekly lessons of 1.5 hours each
  • Age - Minimum 6 years old (waiverable with coaches evaluation) No maximum age limit
  • Time - 6PM to 7:30PM Each Friday
  • Day - First Friday of each month, and the next 5 Fridays after that.
  • Equipment - Suitable exercise clothing with long pants and shoes for wooden gym floor. Water bottle. All fencing equipment is provided.
  • Cost - $100 per person
  • Method of Payment - Credit Card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover,) Check or Cash

Conditioning Class:

The Conditioning Class is presented each day the club is open except Friday when the Beginner Class is presented. The class is from 6:00PM to 6:45PM Monday through Thursday and from 10:00AM to 10:45AM on Saturday. Conditioning Class consists of warm up, stretching, agility drills, footwork drills, weapon skill, tactics and strategy used in competition. Members who elect to take the Conditioning Class may attend any and all of the classes without limit throughout the quarter.

  • Prerequisite - Membership required.
  • Schedule - Daily 6:00PM to 6:45PM Monday through Friday; Saturday 10:00AM to 10:45AM
  • Cost - $75 per quarter per fencer
  • Method of Payment - Credit Card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover,) Check or Cash

Private Coaching:

Private coaches are available to teach all aspects of Olympic fencing with emphasis on competition in the weapons of Epee and Foil. Private coaching is one-on-one, intense and highly effective for rapid improvement. (See Coaches)

  • Prerequisite - Membership required to receive private lessons at GBFC
  • Scheduling - Directly with coach
  • Cost - $25 for a 20 minute workout/lesson
  • Method of Payment - Cash or Check paid directly to coach prior to or upon receipt of training

Training Clinics, Camps and Special Programs:

Clinics and Camps are conducted several times each year. They are conducted to provide a 2-4 day concentration of instruction and coaching to participating fencers who compete at local, regional, national and international venues. Visiting coaches are highly qualified. Specific event information will be posted in the club, announced in the club newsletter and posted at WWW.ASKFRED.NET. Call or email for more information.
